Tips for reducing the belly bloat!
Bloating can be a real pain in the butt! Or should I say gut!
It’s a pretty common symptom that a lot of people live with daily and is a sign that things aren’t working too well down their either!
Here are a few tips to help combat the belly bloat!
1. Remove trigger foods such as gluten or dairy. If you notice you feel a bit bloated, farty or burpy after eating foods that have gluten or dairy in them, chances are you have an intolerance, try removing them from your diet and take note of how your belly feels.
2. Balance your gut microbiome, sometimes the bad bacteria outweigh the good bacteria and this can cause an imbalance in your gut and can cause digestive discomfort such as bloating.
3. It’s also super important to feed the bacteria in your gut, make sure you are eating a variety of different vegetables and fruit each week, the more variety the better, think lots and lots of different colours.
4. Keep your water consumption up working towards at least 2 litres per day. I know its hard in winter but setting a timer in your phone can help you to remember to drink every 1-2 hours.
5. Certain foods such as broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts to name a few are foods that are high in FODMAPS which can be sneaky belly bloaters and could be contributing.
I’m not advocating for you to remove them indefinitely as these foods are important for your nutrient intake, but you could remove them for a week or two and see if that makes a difference.
